'The Fleece' deals with sheep in many different aspects, such as the tending of sheep, the shearing and preparation of wool, weaving, and the wool manufacture. Dyer uses the poem to look at the reasons for the prosperity of England, and how the wool trade has benefited himself personally as a farmer - Dyer restored a rundown farm to a profit and worked as a gentleman farmer for a time.Prior owner's ink inscription to the half-title and front paste down. In a full restored calf binding with the joints reinforced and new endpapers. Externally, rubbed. Rubbing has resulted in a little loss of leather in places, mostly to the extremities. A little bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean with the occasional spot.
