Le Roman du Renard is a series of mediaeval stories featuring animals, written in verse in Old French by numerous contributors. The animals present anthropomorphic characteristics and live among humans. In modern editions, the work is attributed to Renart (coming from the common word 'fox'), and the tales tell of trickery and violence. The present edition was adapted for a juvenile reception, with an introduction by M. Louis Tarsot, in the original French. Not held institutionally, this copy was dated from the same edition on WorldCat.Illustrated in text by A. Vimar, nine professionally hand-coloured. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally generally sound with shelf wear, spine and boards bumped and chipped to the extremities, minor loss to the head and tail of spine. internally, binding has failed with leaves up to p. 80 loose but present. Pages clean with some age toning, as usual with the type of paper used. Illustrated in text, nine illustrations were professionally hand-coloured. Good . Ill.: A. Vimar. Good .
