From 1548 and 1550 he was the tutor of Elizabeth in Greek and Latin. He is known for his promotion of the vernacular, and for his theories of education, which was promoted in 'The Scholemaster&apos.'Toxophilius' was dedicated to Henry VIII, and discusses the practice of shooting with the long bow.Edited by James Bennet. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, with a little discolouration and rubbing to the boards and spine, rubbing heavier to the boards. Rubbing has resulted in a little loss of paper to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
