He was seeking to pursue his doctorate at the university, with a focus on 'English literary taste as exhibited in the poetical miscellanies', and drafted a bibliography to support it.The books mentioned in this work are described chronologically, and is based upon the holdings of four libraries which are the 'richest in English poetical miscellanies', those being the British Museum, the Bodleian, and the libraries of Yale and Harvard.Contents begin with 'Thus endeth the Christmasse carol', and end with 'Wit's Cabinet&apos. An addendum and indexes follow the text.Written by Arthur Ellicott Case (1894-1946), who also wrote 'Four Essays on Gulliver's Travels&apos. Collated, complete. Bound in quarter-cloth on paper boards. Externally, smart, with minimal edge wear to the extremities and light discolouration to the spine. A bit of loss to the head of spine. A few marks to boards.
