Second Edition, uncommon.This edition was printed for private circulation by Sir Duncan Cameron, who was the younger brother of Colonel John Cameron. Illustrations include a frontispiece and two illustrated plates.This is an interesting biography on the life of Colonel John Cameron (1771-1815), who was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Gordon Highlanders, or the 92nd Regiment of Foot. He was killed in action at the Battle of Quatre-Bras, after which point his father was made a baronet in recognition of Cameron's military service.Contents include 'Monument at Kilmallie', 'Brief Remarks on the Clan System, and on the Character of the Highlanders', and 'Regiment Goes to Holland&apos. Written by the Rev. Archibald Clerk (1813-87), who was the minister of Kilmallie, as well as one of the leading Gaelic scholars of the Victorian era. With an illustrated bookplate to front pastedown belonging to Peter Forbes. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with light bumping to the spine and extremities and fading to the boards and gilt illustration. Margins of boards are discoloured, as is the spine. Prior owner's illustrated bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound, with binding loosening a bit more towards the middle of the text. Age-toning to pages and light spotting particularly to the first few pages of text. Plates are bright and clean. Very Good . Ill.: Various. Very Good .
