Hector Flieschmann's biography of Count Léon, illegitimate son of Napoleon Bonaparte and his mistress Louise Catherine Eléonore Denuelle de la Plaigne. A military man, he was head of a battalion of the national guard in Saint-Denis, and organised several commemorations in remembrance of the First Empire. Illustrated with a frontispiece and other black and white plates in black and white. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, slightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Spine and front board lightly faded, light soiling to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Light minor spotting scattered to the occasional lead, although, generally, the pages appear clean throughout.
