Jack Cope, otherwise known as Robert Knox Cope (1913-1991), was a South african novelist, poet, and editor. He published over eight novels and more than one hundred short stories, many of which considered the racial and political conditions in South Africa. Later novels, such as 'The Golden Oriole', chronicled how white men had destroyed black culture and their sense of pride and identity. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart. Minimal edgewear to extremities with a mark to the front board. Light spotting to text block. Dust wrapper is very smart, with a bit of edge wear which has resulted in a small closed tear to the front wraps. Light age-toning to fly leaves and reverse of wraps, with a few spots.
