First UK Edition. In the publisher's cloth binding. Originally published in German under the title 'Der Tunnel' in 1913, this is the first UK Edition of Kellerman's popular work of fiction. The novel follows the adventures of an idealistic engineer that wishes to build a tunnel underneath the Atlantic Ocean, and proved to be so successful that it sold 100,000 copies six months after its initial publication. Four film adaptations were also created based upon the book. Bernhard Kellermann (1879-1951) was a German author and poet. He achieved significant popularity within Germany as well as the United States. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. A few marks to boards with a bit of fading to the illustration on the front board, as well as on the spine. Minimal bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine. Spotting to text block.
