In 1948, Greene extensively revised the novel for the third edition and his changes were incorporated in future printings.Understandably lacking the vanishingly scarce dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally smart with some shelf wear and minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, light soiling to the boards and spine, a minor chipping to the tail of the spine. Gentle minor cocking forward of the spine. Previous ownership inscription to the front free endpaper, dated 1938. Front hinge only slightly strained, holding firm. Internally, firmly bound.
