With six volumes dedicated to Florian's Quixote, and further volumes containing fables, plays and novels.Accused of writing verse in honour of the queen, Florian died aged only 39 of tuberculosis while imprisoned during the French Revolution.In mixed editions, this pocket sized set is comprised of volumes from three different Paris based publishers.With the former owner's bookplate of Jean Paul Robert Marix Evans to the front pastedown of each volume. In quarter calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips and marbled paper covered board. Light discolouration to back strips, with a touch of rubbing to back strip heads and tails. Shelf wear to board perimeters. Bookplate to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd spot, and light offsetting to pages facing plates. Very Good .
