First edition, first impression. Signed by the author to the title page. 'Turlough' (1996) is a work of historical fiction based around the life of Turlough O'Carolan, the legendary blind Irish harper of the seventeenth century. Keenan wrote this work not only to recreate a historical story, but to repay a 'personal debt&apos. The author was held hostage by fundamentalist Shi'ite militiamen for four years, and said he was 'visited and sustained' by the presence of O'Carolan himself throughout this period. Brian Keenan is a Northern Irish writer. He wrote an enthusiastically received autobiographical account of his time being held hostage in Beirut, which is titled 'An Evil Cradling' (1991). Collated, complete.  In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. Dust wrapper also in excellent condition, with just a bit of shelf wear around the spine region. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
