Illustrative of the collection of British paintings belonging to Ralph Brocklebank at Haughton Hall in Bunbury, which includes prominent European artists including Filippino Lippi, J. M. W. Turner, Francois Clouet, and Sir A. W. Callcott among others. With descriptive and biographical notes as well as an introduction by A. Radcliffe Carter. Titles in red throughout, with sections on the Italian, Flemish, Dutch, French, and British schools. Illustrated with twenty-six photogravure plates, including 'The Grand Canal, Venice,' 'Madonna and Child,' and 'London: An Autumnal Morning.' Collated, complete. In the original publisher's half vellum binding over paper covered boards. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear, some bumping to the head and tail of the spine, general light soiling to the boards and spine, chipping to the front board and rear board. Minor library shelf number taped to the spine. Library bookplate to the front pastedown, as well as a minor previous ownership inscription. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
