A pamphlet discussing monarchy, national relations, and morality, inviting the practice of peace and aspiring to national freedom.In 1857 Felice Orsini, Italian revolutionary, tried to assassinate Napoleon III after testing bombs of his own design in Sheffield and Devon with the aid of French radical Simon Bernard. During the attempt in Paris, January 1857, eight people were killed and one hundred and forty-two wounded, though the emperor and empress were unhurt.A very scarce first edition. Disbound.
