Thomas Gent was an Irish-born printer and author, known for his publishing house in Yorkshire, where he produced many local histories. Although his woodcut illustrations and poetry were not particularly impressive, his autobiography is considered an important source for the lifestyle of printing and publishing at the time. It was published over fifty years following the author's death.The first edition of this work.Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author. With a loosely inserted colour postcard of the same image. In a contemporary full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is a touch faded, with some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities.
