Cardinal Richelieu was his patron, and his works include 'Le Cid', 'La Mort de Pompee', 'Andromede', 'Cinna' and 'Clitandre&apos.Bound in a beautiful fine binding by Zaehnsdorf with gilt detail to the spine and borders, marbled edges and endpapers. With a prize bookplate from Malvern College in Latin dated 1868.Illustrated with twelve plates. In the original French language.A beautiful copy of Corneille's plays. In a full calf binding. Externally generally smart; a little rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, extremities and joints. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown.
