Crowden was an English oarsman who completed in for Great Britain in the 1952 Summer Olympics.Loosely inserted is a birthday card remarking that 'Richard would have liked you to have this book&apos.Though published after her death, this work was purchased from the sale of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie"s library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire. A noted socialite, Pleydell-Bouverie purchased the home in 1940, redesigning the interior and amassing an impressive library, featuring many examples of her own bookbinding. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Minor shelf wear to head and tail of back strip. Spotting to dust wrapper reverse.
