A fascinating study of midwifery, detailing the pelvis, the external and internal parts of generation, conception, labour, and a chapter with two sections on difficult labours as well as other details.And Observations on the Cure of Cancer, the first edition of 1810, very scarce in all editions. A shorter essay discussing cancer and possible cures.Thomas Denman was an English physician, known for his great successes in midwifery, and for using his authority to support inducing premature labour in cases of narrow pelvis and other conditions of the sort in England. In a quarter morocco binding over marbled boards and new endpapers. Externally excellent with minor shelf wear only. With a presentation bookplate by a Dr Blackall of the of the Birmingham Medical Institute to the front pastedown. The institute's stamp to the title page of 'The Introduction to the Practice of Midwifery.' Ownership inscription to the title page of 'Observations on the Cure of Cancer.' Internally, firmly bound. With a minor faint scattered spotting throughout, particularly to the first and last few leaves, although, generally, the pages are very clean with only a touch of age toning, as usual. Near Fine .
