One of the scarce 170 copies of this work printed on Holland paper, a limited edition piece. An analytical essay of the Bradford Map, a plan of the city of New York from a survey made by James Lyne. It was printed and published by William Bradford, New York's first established printer, in approximately 1731.Only two impressions were made from the original copper-plate, and controversy exists surrounding the authenticity of circulating Bradford maps. In this work, the author, William Loring Andrews, an avid book collector who owned one of these impressions, analyses the various copies of the Bradford Map and compares them to the originals. Including two facsimiles of the Bradford Map, collated and complete, and in superb condition. Including a chronological list of the various Bradford Maps that have been published since 1834 to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt stamping to the front board. Externally, excellent, with just very minor shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine .
