Her works were popular, often consisting of biographies of French historical figure. Two works, bound in four volumes, are present here in Mudie signed bindings. Both in their first editions, Freer's 1864 'The Married Life of Anne of Austria and Don Sebastian' and 1866 'The Regency of Anne of Austria' are present.With an illustrated frontispiece portrait of Anne to the start of each volume I.The first two volumes detail the life of Anne of Austria, Queen of France as the wife of King Louis XIII. Following his death in 1643, the second two volumes cover the period during which she served as Queen regent during the minority of her son Louis XIV, until 1651. In half calf bindings with paper covered boards. Bumping to spine heads and tails, with significant loss to leather at head of spines to 'Regency' vol I and 'Married Life' vol I. Rubbing to back strips and board perimeters. Rubbing to each joint, with rear joint of 'Married Life' vol I and front joint of 'Regency' vol II starting, with boards tender but holding firm. Front joint of 'Married Life' vol I starting, with board close to detaching. Volume number spine labels absent. Binder's stamps to verso of front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound.
