Ashdown.Illustrated with seventeen plate engravings by Frederick Kitton, as well as in-text illustrations throughout. Kitton was a wood engraver known for his illustrations created for Charles Dickens.Collated, complete.From Gaddesden Library, of Gaddesden Place, Hemel Hampstead; with their bookplate to the front pastedown. (Picture of the house at the end of the picture).  With the ownership stamp of Frederick Halsey, 1st Baronet of Gaddesden Place. Halsey was an English Conservative Party politician who sat in the House of Commons for thirty-two years at the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth century. In a half crushed morocco binding. Externally very smart, with some slight rubbing to the extremities and the head of the spine. Ex libris bookplate to the front pastedown; stamps to the front blank.
