Arthur Irwin Dasent was educated at Eton and became a clerk in the House of Commons. He wrote articles for numerous periodicals, such as 'The Saturday Review of Politics, Literature, Science, and Art', and 'The Spectator. He also wrote widely about the history of London. Fully illustrated throughout, with a portrait of every speaker where a portrait could be found.
