He was also a painter, lithographer, author and art tutor.  Intermixed within this autobiographical work, Farleigh includes both analysation of and advice for creating wood engravings. He also includes previously unpublished letters and illustrations, a great example of the artist's work through the years. Numerous illustrations throughout. Signed by the author, and including a contemporary ink inscription from a previous owner. In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Externally, very smart, with some shelf wear and slight rubbing to the front joint. Book is slightly cocked.
