Most of his important essays were first written for lectures, then revised such as in the present volume. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. With Herbert Standring's bookplate to the verso of the front free endpaper, and a minor pencil inscription to the half title. Internally, firmly bound.
