An affectionate memoir of John Park Fleming, who was an eminent character, well known and universally respected in Glasgow for more than a generation. Student of law, he attended both Glasgow and Edinburgh university. Though prominent in Glasgow elite circles, he refused to take public office and publicity.  In 1839, he purchased land with Montgomery, his former business partner, and developed the Kelvinside Estate as a residential suburb.Penned by his son James Brown, who also inscribed this volume to the front free endpaper 'To David Wilson with J B Fleming's compliments,' dated June 1892. Illustrated with a frontispiece. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities.
