Douglas Bruce. The first edition thus to be edited by J. Douglas Bruce from manuscript 342 of the Bibliothèque Nationale, with collation from some other manuscripts. An old French romance of the thirteenth century, the last division of Lancelot Du Lac, being the tragic account of further wars which lead to the king and his legitimate son Mordred to kill each other. It illustrates the disastrous consequence of the sinful affair between Lancelot and Guinevere with the ruin of Arthur's kingdom. Bors remains the only survivor in this story. A charming copy in the original publisher's wraps. In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some edge wear as well as minor chipping to the head and tail of the spine, with only a minor closed tear to the front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. With a minor faint spotting to the first and last few leaves, otherwise the pages are very clean throughout with some faint annotations in pencil to the margins by a previous owner to the occasional leaf.
