The novel presents many aspects of life at the time, set during the Jacobite rising of 1745, and the style of the narration is most personable. Henry Fielding (1707-1754) was an English writer and dramatist, remembered for founding the first intermittently funded and full-time police force; his writing was generally satirical and comedic by nature. Illustrated by George Cruikshank (1792-1878), a British caricaturist and illustrator, most renowned for his work for Charles Dickens and on 'The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman&apos.Complete in two volumes.With wonderful gilt spines. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with a little wear to the head and tail of the spine and boards. Internally, binding is a little tender.
