The first edition, a very scarce volume. A charming  and detailed critical study of seven hundred passages in Shakespeare's plays, including 'The Tempest,' 'Merry Wives of Windsor,' 'Much Ado About Nothing,' 'All Well That Ends Well,' and many others. In a half calf binding over paper covered boards with new endpapers. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and some minor faint handling marks to the boards. With a bookplate to the front pastedown, with the owner's name crossed out. Internally, firmly bound. The dedication and title page have been repaired and attached to the gutter with archival tape.
