In reality, much of the contents of the work were plagiarised from other successful Victorian food writers, such as Maria Eliza Rundell and Eliza Acton. By 1907, the work spanned over two thousand pages. By 1868, it had sold nearly two million copies, making it an extremely popular guide, held as standard by many at the time.Written by Isabella Mary Beeton (1836-1865), an English writer and journalist.Illustrated with in-text engravings. A new edition. An uncommon and early edition of this work. In a full cloth binding. Externally a trifle worn, with a few stains to the boards and a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities.
