He discovered and reared some of the rarest birds in the world. He discovered the imperial pheasant, which was a hybrid between the Vietnamese pheasant and the silver pheasant. Illustrated throughout with thirty-two plates by J C Harrison as well as twenty-one maps and diagrams. This copy once belonged to James Robertson-Justice the British actor who starred in many films with Gregory Peck. To the recto of front endpaper are many gift inscriptions to Robertson-Justice including one from the actor Dirk Bogarde. Loosely inserted is a Windsor Great Park Game Card from a shoot with H.R.H Duke of Edinburgh. His name is the first on the record. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With the very scarce original dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper is generally smart. Price has been removed from the front flyleaf. Dustwrapper is split at the front joint with small loss to the head and tail of spine. Gift inscriptions to the recto of front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
