The fourth volume of Aircraft of the Fighting Powers, a periodical issued in 1940 to describe the combat aircraft of the warring countries.Published by the Harborough Publishing Company of Leicester, which mainly focused on books for aircraft modellers. By H J Cooper, O G Thetford, and edited by D A Russell.The magazine ran until 1947, having been published yearly in seven volumes.Volume four comprising the descriptions of aircraft such as The D H Mosquito II, The Airspeed Horsa, The Boulton-Paul Defiant III, The Grumman Tarpon I (TBF-1 Avenger), The Fairchild Cornell (PT-26), The Cessna AT-8 and AAT-17 Bobcat, The Fairchild 91, and many others. Each aircraft is accompanied by a three-view diagram in a 1/72 scale, in order not to simply recognising aircraft, but also to build models, which were an invaluable aid for recognition to the RAF, AA gun sites, and Observer Corp posts.With over thirty leaves of advertisements for Accles and POllock. Aircraft Publications, Aviation Development, British Wire Productions, Fielding and Platt, Kenure, National Institute of Engineering, Reynolds Tube Co. Vokes, and plenty others. Profusely illustrated throughout with coloured and black and white plates, as well as various diagram and twenty five folding diagrams. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelfwear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. The cloth to spine has slightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
