His writings includes biographies of Horace Walpole, William Windham and Horace Gray, which won the James Tait Black Award.An uncommon work detailing Bath at the turn of the nineteenth century. In a full calf binding, rebacked upon cloth. Externally a little rubbed to the spine in particular, with some loss to the leather at the base of the spine in particular, with worn extremities and boards. Ownership stamp to the front pastedown, gift inscription to the front blank and contemporary ownership inscription to the title page.
