Lawrence Durrell - Mountolive

Title: Mountolive
Description: London, Faber and Faber, 1958 . First edition. Cloth. An excellent first edition copy of this novel by Lawrence Durrell in its original, unclipped dustwrapper. The first edition of this work. The third of a quartet of novels known as the Alexandria Quartet, published before the publication of the last novel. Published as its own novel, this volume is great to read by itself, although more can be gained by reading the complete group. The longest, most entertaining, and not the least overwhelming of the first three novels according to its dustwrapper. Set in Alexandria around the Second World War, the story told in all four novels is essentially the same, but from different points of view, to reach a conclusion in Clea. This book is the only one written in a third person narrative and the most overtly political. With unclipped dustwrapper. In the original publisher's cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally excellent with minor shelfwear and slight bumping ot head and tail of spine. inscribed by a previous owner to front free endpaper, dated 1987. Dustwrapper is unclipped and excellent with only minor shelfwear, with a small inscription by a previous owner to front flyleaf. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None. Very Good Indeed/Near Fine.
