Lindsay was a noted bibliophile and collector, as well as being a prominent Freemason and the president of the Royal Astronomical Society. The extensive library was largely kept at Haigh Hall, before being given to various institutions upon Lindsay's death. In the original cloth binding. Externally, with marks to the boards and spines, heavier to Volume I. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities, with a little loss to the spines. Tidemark to the boards of Volume I. Rear hinge of Volume III is a little strained.Tidemark to the rear pastedowns and rear endpapers. Rear endpaper of Volume III is cropped to the fore edge. Bookplate to the front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some odd light spots. Closed tear to the head of page 1/2 of Volume I, not affecting text.
