This work is an account of Defoe's travels across the United Kingdom, published in three volumes between 1724 and 1727: this was his most popular and successful work during his lifetime.Daniel Defoe (c1660-1731) was an English writer, trader, pamphleteer and spy, who often published political pieces and was imprisoned on account of this. He produced more than three hundred works in his lifetime, with his novel 'Robinson Crusoe' being his most widely known work, having a long-lasting legacy. This is a limited edition, with one thousand sets produced.Volume I contains eighteen maps; Volume II contains thirty maps, including one folding map. Collated, complete. In a quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards, with an unclipped dust wrapper to each volume. Externally very smart, minor shelf wear including bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Dust wrappers are sunned to the spine with minor shelf wear. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown.
