The book then passed on to Sir Thomas Lawrence's grand niece. With pencil inscriptions to the endpapers explaining the family tree and relations. Pencil annotations throughout the work explaining untruths in Jerdan's biography. With explanations of what really happened. Written by William Jerdan, a Scottish journalist from Kelso. Illustrated, with a portrait frontispiece and a large plate of Sir Thomas Lawrence's birthplace. In a contemporary full calf binding. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Bookplate to the verso of front endpaper. Prior owner's inscription to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound.
