He moved in literary and legal social circles and matriculated from Pembroke College, Oxford with the likes of Henry Kingsley and Arthur Locker alongside him. He published a number of novels, before moving onto non-fiction work. This work in particular was criticised but remained popular regardless.Complete in two volumes. In a full cloth binding with the original spine and covers rebacked. Externally generally smart, some bumping to the tail of vol I and the heads of both volumes, extremities are a touch rubbed.
