A very scarce personal collection of poems written and published by an Aunt Mary for the distribution to family members and close friends. A lovely collection of verses published "at the loving request" of the author's niece by Aunt Mary (M.E.B). Glued to the dedication page, there is a handwritten letter in black ink signed Aunt Mary, which reads: To BiancaOn Her Wedding-day.Dearest Bianca, on this happy day I take, but with a trembling hand (..)(..) I pour a merry marriage, in hopes of harmony and living (..)!But on this old, consecreted theme of love, what hath and yet been said (..)Since Adam woke enchanted from his dream to meet fair Eve, when earth herself was young.To-day I would not soar on airy wing, But only tread the beaten track anew, Where loving friends, their hearts best wishes bringLike fragrant flowers, upon thy path to (..).May He whose presence graced the marriage (..)And turned the sparkling water into wine,And by whose power each blessing is (..)Be with us now, & on thy nuptials shine!The let the merry bells marriage declare, The union of two loving hearts in one,May blessings rest upon the happy pair And all their lives in harmony flow on!Dedication page by Aunt Mary to F. Love(..), "With kind love, and good wishes, Florence, (..)." In quarter morocco bind with marbled boards and gilt titles to spine and five raised bands. Externally, smart with some rubbing to the spine and slight shelfwear to the extremities. Hinges are slightly strained to front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean, with the odd faint spotting, and slight foxing to rear endpapers. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None. Very Good Indeed .
