However this does not seem to be the publishing giant that we know today, as this work was published a couple of years prior to Allen Lane founding the imprint. This book does have the precursor of the iconic Penguin logo to the title page. In 1932 Allen Lane was the managing editor at the Bodley Head, so this publication could be his testing out the Penguin imprint, before his 1934 idea of publishing cheap paperbacks under the imprint.Richard Brathwait's humorous bilingual poem in Latin and English, recording a pilgrimage throughout England.Printing in Latin to to the verso and English to the recto.Brathwait was an English poet of the seventeenth century In the original publisher's vellum binding. Externally, generally smart, with a little discolouration and marks, as is usual with vellum binding. Boards have sprung a little. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
