Burns (1759-1796) was active in the second half of the eighteenth century, and is widely celebrated as being the national poet of Scotland, writing primarily in English using a Scots dialect, and a pioneer of the Romantic movement. He penned the lyrics to 'Auld Lang Syne', the popular ditty sung on New Year's Eve.In the publisher's original cloth binding with a lovely gilt wreath and stars to the front board.
