This facsimile shows the author's notes on Sarah or Sairey Gamp, often referred to as Mrs. Gamp, a character featured in 'Martin Chuzzlewit' known for perpetuating the stereotype of unprofessional, messy and drunken nurses in the pre-reform Victorian era. Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was an extremely celebrated Victorian writer known for his works which document the social conditions of the time, and his works are still immensely popular today, inspiring regular adaptations.Contains a frontispiece illustration of the subject.
