His books were all published by Routledge and Sons as yellowbacks, cheap novels produced in competition with the penny dreadful. This edition has been rebound from a yellowback copy. A tale of the Scottish regiment 'The Scottish Cameronian Rifles&apos.Undated ownership bookplate to the front pastedown to 'James Maclean, 33 Cowley Road, Oxford&apos. Most likely belonged to James Noël MacKenzie MacLean (1928-1978), a Scottish historian and author who studied at Lincoln University, Oxford.In a half calf binding with a lovely gilt spine and marbled boards. Externally generally smart, some rubbing to the boards. Undated ownership bookplate to the front pastedown and stamp of same name to front endpaper.
