Lawrence's introduction to the memoir was used to sell the book, but Douglas felt he had maligned his dear friend. This feud between Douglas and Lawrence was long-running and this publication was the first foray into the public sphere of the voicing of Douglas' distaste. In the publisher's original paper wraps.
