The first one volume edition in cloth issued by the Odyssey press of Hamburg. This edition is composed in Baskerville type, and has been printed on thin paper by Papier-Fabrik Zum Bruderhaus.'Ulysses' was first issued in England in 1922 by Shakespeare and Company. With a later slipcase. The text of this edition has been edited by Stuart Gilbert, with assistance from Joyce. Therefore this work is one of the most important lifetime printings of Ulysses. Ulysses is an incredibly influential novel, and is a major work in the modernist canon.  First serialized in the American journal 'The Little Review' before being published in its entirety by Sylvia Beach in Paris. A parallel of Homer's epic 'The Odyssey', Joyce's novel is set in 20th century Ireland and explores the relationship of the country's relationship with Britain. A beloved work by many, T.S Eliot referred to 'Ulysses' as being 'a book to which we are all indebted, and from which none of us can escape&apos. In the publisher's original cloth binding. In a later slipcase. Externally, very smart. A few light spots to the edges of the cream boards. Red text to the spine is slightly rubbed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Faint aroma of cigar smoke to the work. Scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, just the odd spot. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
