The Freers were avid art collectors, and acquired quite the selection over the twentieth century, of works mostly bought from the artists. Allen organised many exhibitions of artists he admired and published several works on art. With Allen Freer's bookplate to the front pastedown.With an engraved frontispiece to both parts. [2], a-c4, B4-E1, E4, F4-2G4, 2H1, 2H4, 2I4- Collated, lacking E2, E3, 2H2, and 2H3. Collated using the British Library copy. Wing C6657. Abraham Cowley was a leading seventeenth century poet, his 'Works' were repeatedly published, with over fourteen printings issued between 1668 and 1721. Rebacked, with the original boards retained. Repairs to the extremities. Prior owner's notations to the rear pastedown in pencil Externally, very smart. Light rubbing to the joints and boards. Small loss to the bottom margin of C4. Loss to the outer margin of H1. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to pages. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
