With descriptions accompanying each plate by John Blackmore. Rebound, in a lovely half calf binding, with paper covered boards. A large paper copy, with three lots of the original wraps as this is from the parts edition. With wraps dated 1837, 1838, and 1838. The Newcastle and Carlisle railway was the first railway across England. With plates and descriptions of Hexam, Gelt Bridge, The Cowran Cut, Warden Bridge, Hell Beck Embankment. Illustrated, with twenty-three plates total. Lacking the engraved title page which is frequently found in volumes. A very bright, and smartly bound copy of this scarce work. In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Tape repairs to the wraps and to the bottom of title page.
