The Newcastle and Carlisle railway was the first railway across England. With plates and descriptions of Hexam, Gelt Bridge, The Cowran Cut, Warden Bridge, Hell Beck Embankment. Illustrated, with twenty-three plates total. Lacking the engraved title page which is frequently found in volumes. A very bright, and smartly bound copy of this scarce work. In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Tape repairs to the wraps and to the bottom of title page.
