The engravings are from paintings by the English designer Sir Edward John Poynter. Poynter was the president of the Royal Academy. Endymion is a popular poem based on the Greek myth of the same name. It was dedicated to Thomas Chatterton and is written in rhyming couplets and iambic pentameter. It elaborates on the original story and renames Selene 'Cynthia&apos. In a half morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Externally, smart. Patches of rubbing to the joints and extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound.
