Comprising 43 plates, numbered 1-47. These plates were also later issued in 'The School of Fencing with a General Explanation of the Principal Attitudes and Positions Peculiar to the Art' printed in 1787. Both this work and 'The School of Fencing' contain paired plate numbers 2/3, 11/12, and 13/14, each being assigned as one plate Collated, this copy is lacking plate 23. Domenico Angelo was an Italian sword and fencing master. He was the founder of the Angelo family of fencers, and was pivotal in the shifting perception of fencing from an art of war to a sport. He emphasized the activity as a means of developing health, poise, and grace. Rebound, in a later calf binding. Externally, in an excellent condition with only some minor shelf wear to the joints.
