This biographical and heraldic work has been compiled by Arthur W Crawley-Boevey, a British author and barrister. He is best known for his works on archaeological sites in the British empire. This work is accompanied by genealogical notes on the Boevey family and others connected therewith. The author is a descendant of this family, and he notes he offers 'this family Memoir for what it is worth to all who are interested in Huguenot history and genealogy&apos. Mrs Catharina Boevey or Bovey, was of Flaxley Abbey Gloucestershire. She is the reputed original of Sir Roger de Coverley's 'Peverse Widow' in Spectator Nos 2, 113 and 118 written by Steele. Loosely inserted to the rear is some ephemera regarding Flaxley Abbey from the twentieth century. A very smart heraldic work. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Mark to the front board. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
