A Kentucky Carnival is a work heavily influenced by Allen's childhood experiences. Allen spent his youth in Lexington during the Antebellum era, the American Civil War and the Reconstruction periods. This story is the first tale in the A Kentucky Cardinal series. James Lane Allen was an American novelist and short story writer. His work often depicts the culture and dialects of his native Kentucky. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt stamping to the front board and spine.
