A collection of three epistles, titled 'The Retreat of Aristippus', 'The Temper of Aristippus', and 'The Apology of Aristippus&apos. Each episiltory poem is addressed to nameless peers. It has been noted that the style of these poems are profoundly French, with hints to Gresset in particular in the poems. Written by John Gilbert Cooper, a British poet. He first started publishing poetry in 1742, and was a regular contributor to Robert Dodsley's 'The Museum', his contributions written under the nom de plume 'Philaretes&apos. Disbound. Externally, outer leaves are a little age-toned, with minor marks and spots. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned with some spots.
