Uncommon to find not bound with other works. The first edition of this work. Bound without the half-title and title page. Otherwise, work is complete. A scarce work. Title and publishing info is taken from ESTC. ESTC citation number T32883. A collection of three epistles, titled 'The Retreat of Aristippus', 'The Temper of Aristippus', and 'The Apology of Aristippus&apos. Each episiltory poem is addressed to nameless peers. It has been noted that the style of these poems are profoundly French, with hints to Gresset in particular in the poems. Written by John Gilbert Cooper, a British poet. He first started publishing poetry in 1742, and was a regular contributor to Robert Dodsley's 'The Museum', his contributions written under the nom de plume 'Philaretes&apos. Disbound. Externally, outer leaves are a little age-toned, with minor marks and spots. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned with some spots. Very small puncture mark to the gutter to the last few pages. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
